From Within Gleams Light Prominent

A poem written as an exercise of black-out poetry, from a page of The Fall of the House of Usher. Some of the word tenses have been changed from how they appear in Poe's work to maintain consistency.





The eye struggles, frets


Upon the musical vitality,

Breathes warmth—perfect sincerity.

I admit, the eye

Luminous, beautiful,

Delicate in its want of softness

Prevailing to convey change

Miraculous, in its wild

Arabesque of humanity—
